Ar an leathanach seo

  1. Long ago people had many old cures for certain diseases. To cure mumps they used to burn gladdem, a weed like a flaggen, and put it to their neck and put a cloth over it and keep it there for a couple of hours. Gladdem grows in the ditch.
    For cuts they used to put a leaf called the plaintain leaf on it and then tie it up with flannel.
    If you got stung with a nettle, a dock-leaf was put on it to cure it.
    Dandelion tea was used to cure consumption. They used to boil the roots of dandelion and drink the water.
    Fried chickweed and frog sorels were used for boils.
    They used to follow piebald horses for a cure for the whooping cough. the used to say "o you who follows the piebald horse...
