- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)if any stranger came in he would have to churn. The dash is moved up and down and when the churning is finished the dash is moved from side to side to gather the butter. Then a sod of turf or a brick is put under one side of the churn, and the churn is rocked to get the butter together. People know when the butter is made when the handle of the dash is clear. Hot water is put in while churning to help to churn. The butter is lifted out with a wodden spade and put on a wooden plate and made with salt.
