A game called "Beat out the bull" used to be played at wakes. This is how it was played. Five or six fellows would get pieces of rope and plait them and at the end of each they would put a big knot. They would then get out some other person on the floor and they would give him a terrible beating.

There is well in Mr Thorton's field and it is called the "Fuaran". Another game they used to play at wakes was called "Box the Fox". Patrick Lyons. (gan teideal)

A black pig is supposed to have run across the bog before the '98 rising and nobody could catch it. The old people say that when the black pig runs across the bog, something bad is going to happen.
