There is a man named Larry Lynam who lived in Confey about seven years ago. He was buried in Confey cemetery. He used to write a lot of poems. One of the poems he wrote was on a neighbour's potatoes. This is what it was.
"Little and round and hard to be found,
Sloppy and wet hard to be "et",
The devil and Dan Murphby's boughs would not boil them."There is another man named Tom Murray who also lived in Confey sixteen years ago. He was buried in Leixlip cemetery. This man was a black-smith. He once said to an English soldier who inquired the name of a stream.
"This is the Griffeen fair and bright and not the moddy river,
Where the Boers with their long,
Tomhaars made the British shiver."Told to me by my brother
