- There are many signs of the weather but the chief signs are those of the heavens.
If there is a fog around the district at night it is a sign of fine weather or when the sky is clear. But if the sky is dark the people say it is a bad sign.
When the sun sets red you may be sure of a fine spell, but if it rises red it is the sign of a bad spell.
It is also a bad sign to see a circle around the moon. The winds are also good for telling us about the weather.
The curfews cry and the birds all cluster together when the rain is coming.
Other sure signs for rain are when the dog drinks water or eats grass, or when the frog is a black colour.
Signs for fine weather are when the frog is a yellow colour, or to see smoke whirling around when it comes out of the chimney. If the hills look near, rain is near.- Bailitheoir
