    Gortalassa Fort
    There is a fort in the townland of Gortalassa, Firies. It is in Jerry Kerrsk's land. There is a fence of earth around it. In the centre of this fort there is an entrance-hole. Over this entrance there is a big stone. The weight of the stone is about twenty tons. There is another fort about a half a mile from it. They are in the same townland. The two forts are connected by an under-ground tunnel. It is built of flags. A person could travel from one fort to the other. There is supposed to be a large crock of gold hidden in some one of those forts by the Danes retreating from Dromore fort. I heard Ned Day, Currens, Farranfore say that one night he was snaring rabbits in the fort field. It was about twelve o'clock in the night. He felt something hitting him. He looked around but he saw nothing. The next thing
