“On the 15th of August 1893 Patrick McKenna of Drumfurrer ...”
a brother of Owen McKenna Drumfurrer was coming from the chapel with Owney Faravore It was a very hot day. When they came to the "New Bridge" they went into the river to bathe. They began to sink. When their bodies were found they were dead. In the morning three days after they were found they were taken to the chapel to be buried. When the corpses were going to the chapel a terrible thunder storm arose. The people who were carrying the corpses had to go into the houses and they left the corpses on the side of the road.
