  1. Lord Lucas was the lord of Castleshane in Irish it is called Casleán Seáin which means the castle of John. It belonged to to Sean Mac Mahon the last of the clan of the Mac Mahons. When Sean Mac Mahon died his daughter was the only heiress of the Castle. When he died he had no money so she was going to sell out the place. This man named Lucas came and told her he would lend her some money. He then lent her about two thousand pounds. When she died she left the place to him. He was a protestant and made hard laws against the catholic people of the district. He knocked down the houses of poor people in the district. All thatched houses in view of the Castle had to be pulled down by the owner of the house himself. If a dog ran on the castle ground he would have to be shot. There is a story about a man
