1. Churning

   We have a churn at home it is about tree feet in height. It is as wide as a barrel on top and bottom. The sides of it are round. It is about six years of age. The various parts of it are called the:- the lid, plug, springs, legs, handle and mouth. On the lid of the churn there is a mark like the shape of a fish.
   In summer we make butter four times a week and in winter we make it about three times a week. When strangers come in they always should take part in the churning because it is believed there would be no butter on the milk if they did not help. It takes about one hour to do the churning in the winter time and a half an hour in the summer time. Our churn is worked by hand and in given a rolling motion from side to side.
   The way the people know when butter is made is the butter is floating on the top of the milk.
   Butter milk is used for drinking, feeding, calves,
