- "The Stolen Milk"
A man one time had four cows on his farm. One evening he went out to milk them, but one of the cows had no milk. He thought that someone had milked her and he watched the next day to see if anyone would go near her, but no one came. When he went to milk her, she had no milk and he did not know what was wrong as the cow seemed to be quite well. One evening the cows were beside a fort, and when the man went to milk he heard a child crying in it. After a while he heard a voice saying " Do not cry, You will get your supper when McKennas come to milk". The man knew then where the milk was going, and he turned the cow out on the road for the fairies use. The next morning the cow was in a field of corn, but she was eating around the hedges and never touched a head of corn. After this the man who owned the cow had the best of luck.
