   There is an old belief connected with the magpie. It is as follows:-

   Three for a wedding
   And four for a wake.

   If a tooth falls out, and you don't throw it over your shoulder, old people used to believe that your teeth would not grow straight. They also believed that, if you did not put your tongue in the place from which your tooth fell out, a gold tooth would grow there.

   Old people believed that if any person died he would have to draw water to the other poor souls until some other person would die and take his place.

   If you are going on a journey and see a pin with the point of it turned to you, pick it up, as your luck is turning to you, but if the point is not turned to you, don't pick it up, as your luck is gone.
