  1. When a death occurs all the people in the townland cease working. Where the death takes place is called a burial house. The corpse is waked for two nights. The older people go [?] in the day time. The younger people go at night. Relatives or immediate neighbours sit till morning.
Men pray at the outside door. Women sit in the corpse room, men in the kitchen. Tobacco, claypipes, snuff, and tea are given to those who come a distance. All clocks are stopped, blinds are not drawn.
The Rosary is recited at intervals.
