  1. There are many homes in Ireland in which there are certain articles set up in honour of some saint or feast.
    Many people put up an altar on the first day of May. It is kept in honour of the Blessed Virgin Mary. There is a lamp kept burning and the altar is decorated with flowers of every sort.
    In every house at Christmas, holly is hung up. The people hang it round the doors and windows. All the children of the country gather May flower on May Eve. They scatter
