- Crows, cranes, stares, woodquests, blackbirds, robins, wrens and thrushes are common. The swallow goes away to another country at the end of the summer. A woodquest builds her nest in Mc. Cabe's glen. She builds it on a lone bush. She builds it with sprigs, grass and dead leaves. Her eggs are white and as big as a hen egg. It take the wood quest three weeks to stay on her eggs.If boys rob bird's nests the bird comes and curses them. The wee birds are called skinnies. When the swallow flies low it is the sign of bad weather. When the curlew whistles it is the sign of rain.
