- Long ago the people made their own candles at home. They bought a pound or two of rosin, and they would get the bottom of a broken metal pot, and they would put the rosin on it on the fire until it would be melted.
They they would get four or five threads of cotton about a foot long and when the rosin was melted, they would hold the thread in one hand, and they would put the rosin round it with the other hand, one end with the threads out and the other end closed up, and when it was finished people could light it and use(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
