  2. The old people had pieces of broken pots which they called "cams". They put water in the cams and put the hard resin in it until it melted. Then they drained off the water when the resin would be quite soft. It was twisted round and round with a piece of stick to toughen it. They had strips of calico for wicks. They had to keep it warm in the can and take it out when it was soft. Then it was taken out and rolled on a stool with the two hands.
