    I stood in the porch of Blessed Oliver Plunketts church,
    Watching the rippling sea,
    As it crept on to its mark round the beach, and I thought it was charming to me.

    I watch the white seagulls soar o'er the deep,
    Making the air resound with their squall,
    I thought of the wonders that were hid 'neath those waves,
    And the creator that has made them all.

    I could see the bus pass by the Church Gate,
    Well loaded,
    With passengers bound for Dundalk,
    Some just going to see how the markets would rate,
