1. Old Graveyards

   

   Roinn Roinn Postáil

   Mullandoy is the only disused graveyard in this Parish. It contains many rough, odd shaped stones. Underneath are given a number of the inscriptions to be found on the tomb stones in this very historical burying ground. The letters were usually cut on the stones by the relatives of the deceased, and in many cases they upturned the flat stones which they used as tombstones in the fields they cultivated. The spelling was not always correct and it is interesting to see how when a letter was omitted it was set in with a mark (illustration) underneath. Some figures were formed backwards and on some occasions the "f" was written for "s" for example alfo = also.

   The following inscriptions are transcribed from the stones just as they are to be seen even to this day.
