- About forty years ago two men named Thomas McBride and John Bailey were out in a boat fishing on Lough Patrick. When they were out some time a storm rose suddenly and they were in great danger. The waves dashed over the sides of the boat and the two men began to scream at the height of their voices for help. Many people ran to the edge of the water but could not do anything to relieve them. Suddenly the boat capsized and John Bailey was thrown into the water. Thomas McBride managed to keep in the boat and afterwards was brought to land. John Bailey tried to catch hold of the boat but the waves overwhelmed him and he was drowned. His body was removed from the water by means of grappling hooks next day.
