- Sty.
A sty on the eye can be cured by any other person whose father and mother are living by using nine goose-berry thorns. These are pointed at the eye and the last thorn is thrown away over the shoulder of the person who has the sty. They say In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, as each thorn is pointed at the sty.Hiccough.
There are four cures for the hiccough. One is to drink water out of the far side of a cup. Another cure for the hiccough is to take three licks of salt. If any body or anything frightens a person when he has it the fright will also cure. If you swallow three spits one after the other without opening your mouth it will cure you too.- Bailitheoir
