    Travelling people still call at our homes as they did long ago. They were and still are made welcome at some doors and at some made unwelcome. There are not as many travelling people now a days as there were long ago as there are Homes for the poor and Mr De Valeras free money has given a living to many tramps.
    The travelling people sell collar studs brooches, and the rich ones of them sell little tables and baskets and such like as the Guards will not allow people to beg. They must sell some thing. Some people buy from them and some do not, they chase them from their door. They try to get most of their provision by asking for it in each house they call in.
    They never stay longer than a day and a night in any town as they would be arrested. They mostly cook their food; some in vans, the rich have
