    or wheaten or rushes but they mostly used wheaten straw. The way in which they thatched these houses was with a little fork and the prongs of which was three or four inches long.
    It was called a thatching fork. Every course which was taken up, the house was sown with this fork They put a rope on it and pulled it up and down through the thatch till it was all sown. It took a man about a week to finish one of the houses and when one was finished he went to another and thatched it. It was a trade in olden times. When the houses were thatched they were very tidy and neat in appearance. They were also very warm and comfortable.
