I went for a stroll on the second of June.
Beneath the green valleys they were in full bloom.
The evening looked dull though we had not much rain.
And we started off Jolly to meet Mary Jane(2)
When we came to Coolartra it was like a fair.
From Tassan Tonagh and the Hollow square.
They were up from St Marys and around Castleshane.
To take the last farewell of Miss Mary Jane.(3)
We were not long there when the dance did begin.
A half set was started by Micky Mc Ginn.
And next Paddy Kelly he joined in the game.
To make the night Jolly for Miss Mary Jane.(4)
At four in the morning each led and his lass.
Were over well treated with bottle and glass.
"So now, boys make trices and say when again."
But the worst was the parting of sweet Mary Jane.(5)
So now to conclude and draw to a close.
My blessing be with her where ever she goes.
I'll be watching the post-man in sunshine and rain.
