- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)the altar would be interfered with. Some time later he just arrived on the spot where the altar was to see the neighbour aiming a blow of his sledge at the last remaining slab.Only one stone now marks the spot where the druid's altar was.(Strange but true) The sledger above referred to contracted bone disease and died with a few weeks of smashing of the slabsIn the same townland there were three huge "gullanes" to the north of the altar (each about seven feet high) and near the fort from which the townland gets its name. Two of these are still to be seen - the other fell before the sledge but the spot where it stood can still be pointed out to the antiquarian and it is certified here that these stones (cromlechs) marked the resting place of some chieftain or prince in those far off days. The fort referred to in last paragraph is a deeply entrenched one, and contains many graves of infants, but whether adults were buried there is not known although there is a grave beside the fosse large enough(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
