   On the horses being turned around she saw the same man on the opposite headland yet when they arrived there no man was to be seen. Again when they turned here, there he was at the far side.

   Getting alarmed she asked her father who the man was on the far side of the field. Her father could see nobody and seemed surprised when his daughter persisted he was present and moved each time the horses were turned. Mary was so positive concerning the man's presence in the field that the father wisely unyoked his team and went home.

   At midnight that night Mary was taken ill and quickly sank into unconsciousness hovering between life and death for three days when she recovered rather quickly.

   Mary's story : I was taken to the fort where there were feasting and dancing, tempting dishes were placed before me but I refused to taste them because on entering I was told by a friend present there not to, and that if I persisted in refusing food I could not be held. She also said a "broom" was laid on the bed during
