Here lies the little hamlet which gave birth to our Gael of Gaels. Fr. Dinneen. No doubt his humble birth was no hindrance to his great brains and poetic talents.

Two brothers still survive - Denis in Corran and Francis in Knockeenagown. A third brother Joe - the bard of Rathmore was killed at Headford Rly. Station some ten or twelve years ago.

What will we do for timber,
All the woods are cut down,
Where is the ghost that stared us
Coming home from town.
Gone is that evil spirit
Who often gave a toss
She was hunted by Thomas O'Mahony
From Beal-na-Díge Cross.
Joe Dinneen

A spirit was believed to haunt Beal-na-Díge for years. It always appeared in the form of a woman. One man Darby Riordan met his death here.
