- There were only three saints in this district, one at the city, one at Cullen, another at Ballyvourney. The city is the most popular in this parish. There lived at the city a Saint named Crob Dearg. There is a well dedicated to her still to be seen there. On the 1st of May a large number of people attend. They go and pay rounds and say prayers. The most famous holy well is at Cullen. There was a Saint there, and her name was St Latenan. Every day the saint used to go to the Smith for a coal of fire so this day she went and she was barefoot and the smith admired her feet, and said to her what a lovely pain of feet you have" and she looked down and so committed the sin of Pride. As she was carrying the coal her apron took fire and she cursed the smith and so no forge could be lit at Cullen ever since. The forge is about half a mile outside the village. The saint at Ballyvourney is another remarkable Saint and people visit the well in Whit Sunday and pay(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
