    the old words of the song have become extinct in the district. When the Donnelly family were swept away by the moving bog people attributed it to this old curse of the place. The local poet Joseph O Dineen wrote
    "Attend my tale of sorrow
    Ye Sympathisers all
    And spread the wail of anguish
    For what did of late befall
    My native air is filling with doleful sobs of woe
    And caoinead's sweetly ringing for those that slumber low.
