- In the townland of Coom at its northern end, near the moving bog, there is a cave called "Cumar na Madraí". It got its name as follows: -
A priest was on his way to a sick call. Passing the cave he was charmed with beautiful rendering of "Cailín deas Crúidhte na mBó".
He paused to listen to the song which held a long time, with the result that the patient had died before the preist arrived at the house
He was filled with remorse for having delayed so long. On his return he entered the cave and found nothing there but two dogs. The song was said to have been cursed by the priest afterwards and to such an extent that the people gave up singing it.
