  1. Long ago there lived in this locality many famous poets namely, Tom Roche, Seamus an Fhiadhadóire, Murthy O Connor and Patrick OConnor. Murthy O Connor lived with his brother in the townland of Cnocán. Tom Roche lived in a hut in Lavalla beside the village of Brosna. It is said that Murthy O Connor had the power of carrying "crickers" from one house to another.
Murthy O Connor made a song about a tea man.
"I come but once a fortnight with my carrige and my pony,
I always find you copperless and watching pints of porter,
Bido said get off you scamping rascal or I will bran you with the poker.
I will call the way next Saturday and have my cash before me or I will land you in Manitoba".
Murthy died at a very young age and his brother Patrick died at the age of sixty three and both of them were buried in Brosna.
