  1. Long ago there was a ford in Cordal and a ford in Ballinard. When tenants failed to pay thier rents to the landlord their catlle were frounded?.
The song of Cordal was composed by a son of Tom Reddy Walshes about 30 years ago. Old Tom Reddy who died about 4 years ago at eh age of 92 was one of the best authorities for folklore in the district.
This song is useful because of the local history it embodies. The composer is now in America.
    Now Cordal dear Cordal
    How lovely thou art
Your beauties are planted in my selfish heart
    Your high lofty mountains
    And soft running streams
    Are for ever entangled
    In my life long dreams
    Your romantic old bohereens
    And shady old groves
Where the boys and the girls
    Together do roam
Your green grassy [?] and your woods can be seen
