"Lepdoody" is so called because of an incident that occurred there in the Penal Times. A Priest, Father Doody, was running from the English soldiers, and as he came to a glen, near Cordal, he gave up all hope of escape, because he had no where to go, and he was old and tired, whereas the soldiers were young and fresh. When eh got to the glen he stopped, and heard a voice saying "Leap Doody", and on jumping he found himself carried over the glen, thus escaping from the English soldiers, and certain death.
Ard na Gragh means "The Hight of Plunder", Some years ago a chieftain who lived in Kerry went one night on a raid with his followers to the rich plains of Co. Cork. They brought home with them cattle and horses, stolen from the rich people.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
