Almost in every house in rural Ireland sugan chairs are to be seen and they are greatly appreciated by the people who take great pains in making them well. The first thing they do in the making of the chair is to get wood. The wood used is generally ash. Out of that make two spars sloped for the back and two shorter ones for the legs which are called knees in the case of a sugan chair. Then make the rungs which keep the legs and the back firm.
