    Wakes and Funerals
    Long ago people were burried differently to what they are now. There was no such thing as carring a corpse to the chapel but they used to be waked for two or three days instead. The people of the place came to the wake and prayed over the corpse as a mark of respect to the family of deceased. The people who were at the wake were served with all kinds of drink, and sometimes the women got tea.
    Long ago when the corpse was taken out the chairs and the tables were throwen out in the yard, and the bed shaken and the winding sheets were taken off. The reason this was done was that another person would not leave a house for a long time again.
    If a person died on a Monday you could not turn the sod on a Monday because it is unlucky.
