    Customs
    There were many strange marriage customs in our district long ago.
    The people used to consider it lucky to get married on the 21st January in any year, and during Shrove time. They think it very unlucky to get married during fast days, and also March and November are very unlucky. Some people wait until Shrove Tuesday to get married.
    In a house at the spa, there was a marriage held once. This happened about sixty years ago in 1875, and the old custom was carried on. On the morning a few hours after
