    1 In this locality a man named Jerry O'Connor brings in a furze bush to the house on May Eve and on St. John's night he lights the bush and follows his cattle around the field with it. This is supposed to bring luck to the stock for the year.
    2 Long ago the local people made two small cakes of bread on New Year's night and they opened the door and threw one to the east and one to the west saying "Keep out hunger, keep out rogues".
    3 There is a disease in calves called the "ruaithe peiste" and the first one who sees the calf in this disease, if it is a man he should hit him
