- One July evening a woman was dying and a neighbour was sent on horse back for the priest. He entreated the batten to hurry for fear he would not be in time to administer the last Sacraments to the dying person. The priest did as he was bade and flew back to the house - on horse back also - as quickly as was in his power. When he had gone a few miles the horse stopped suddenly, and would not stir an inch, either for coaxing or beating. The priest guessed that same evil spirit was the cause and asked “who is this that detains me?” a harsh laugh was his only reply.
