halter or gad. There is a loop put on one end
of the rope and a knor on the other end the
knot is put into the loop and it cannot be opened
except by menas of the hand. A short piece of a
rope is tied around the stake as the cows stir their
heads and also for fear they should get entangles in it.
Thieving cows are tied with a rope around
their neck and attached to the front foot or somet[h]imes
there is a rope tied around their neck to which
there is a log of wood attached which strikes them
on the knees and thus stops them from thieving. A
cow that beats her companions is tied by the horns
to the stake. Some cows kick when they are being
milked. To prevent this there is a rope tied around
their body and a stick twisted in it and when the
cow kicks the rope is tightened by means of the stick.
Calves are tied by the front foot and this rope
is tied to a stake. A horse is tied with a head stall.
The head stall is put on the horse's head and tied
    to the stake.
