cold water afraid there would be any buttermilk in it
Then she salts it and makes it into rolls. The
buttermilk is used for making bread and all that is not
used for bread is given to pigs or calves. Buttermilk
when boiled is called whey and it is given to people
    for bad colds.

  2. A churn is generally made from oak trees. They are
cut into thin pieces called steaves and joined together with
four iron hoops. It is now a round shape. People in our
district churn twice a week in Winter and about four
times in Summer. The strongest people in the house
that churn and while they are churning if anybody
goes in they always take a "drass", for it is said
that you would bring the butter if they did not take
one. When it is churned it is rocked backwards
and forwards and then the butter is taken out and
it is salted. The butter is put into vessels and brought to the market and sold. When it is weighed some of vessels weigh five pounds according to the
size and quality of the butter. The buttermilk
is used for making home bread and it is always
    given to young pigs.
