    Marriages occur most frequently before Shrove Tuesday. Friday and Saturday are looked upon as unlucky days. The months regards as unlucky are May, June, July and August.
    In olden times when a pair got married a certain sum of money, known as a "fortune" was given by the girls parents to the boy. If there were satisfied they bought the ring and arranged for the day of their marriage. After the marriage there was a feast held in the bride's house. There was great feasting and merrymaking during the day and night.
