  1. I olden times people used very simple food nevertheless good and wholesome food. Their breakfast consisted of a pot of Indian meal porridge and buttermilk. This porridge while boiling used to sputter and spatter and the old people called it "Spatter the hob."
    Some people had no butter milk steeped oatmeal in water overnight, and ate their porridge with the juice which was called "Sounds." It was nothing for the men that time to work two or three hours without their breakfast.
    The dinner consisted of a pot of potatoes thrown out on a rod basket and this basket was left on the top of the pot and each person sat round some of them on a three legged stool and others on other
