- Very few marriages take place in this district.
Weeks before a marriage the people are all very busy cleaning and making ready for the great day. Most people get married on a Wednsday or Sunday. Old people say these two days are the luckiest for getting married.
That night a great feast takes place in the house of the bride. All the friends gather in and there is great feasting and music and dancing.
There are a lot of old customs such as tying an ols hsoe to the back of the car where the married couple are seated. Another old custom is to throw rice at the married couple after they got(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
