The birds found commonly in my district are crows, wrens, pigeons, curlews, robins, and sea-gulls. The crows, robins and pigeons build in trees. The lapwing makes her nest in the rushes. The wren builds its nest in holes in walls. The swallows migrate to France. When the swallows fly low it is a sign of rain. It is a sign of rain to see the crows lined in the ditche. It is the sign of a storm to see the sea-gulls coming inland. A tradition says that the robin got its red breast by rubbing against the Saviour when he was dying on the cross.
