- In the townland of Carran-sprawn there was a man called Patrick Keany who was a great cyclist. He won a lot of prizes some of which were lamps, cups and a glass case fitted with decanters for holding whiskeys. If you put whisky in these bottles it was quite safe. He left the country about twenty-five years ago, and went to America, and brought these pries with him.
He has a brother called Edward who won prizes also for cycling. The prizes he got were comprised of cutlery, and eight-day clock, and a table lamp. He has these in his own home yet.
There was a man called Mr. Gaynor who was another great cyclist. He won a silver cup, which was presented by the O'Hara's. This man is living in Sligo now. It was a five mile race he won. The late Mr. Torseny R.I.C. of Rivers-(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
