    Some of the Local Marriage Customs long ago were not to get married in the month of May as it was an unlucky month. The thirteenth day of any month is also an unlucky date. It is said that Saturday is a bad day to be married as the old rhyme tells us:-
    Monday for health,
    Tuesday for wealth,
    And Wednesday the best day of all.
    Thursday for losses,
    Friday for crosses,
    And Saturday no luck at all.
    The way the tinker gets married is for them to meet at a certain crossroads and scatter a plate of meal. The man is to shake half the meal and the woman the other half and it was a marriage till the meal was gathered again.
