The travelling folk are usually called tinkers and sometimes gipsies. Tinkers and gipsies visit our house very often. They are very poor. They travel through-out the county begging for alms. The tinkers make holy pictures themselves and sell them to people. The people of districts give them flour and other things. They sell flowers made of coloured paper. They travel by foot everywhere they go. The gipsies are not as poor as the tinkers because they can buy horses can only buy donkeys.
Some men go about on donkeys and carts gathering acragh iron. The tinkers live along the road in vans and tents. They make a fire by sticks and pieces and pieces of turf. Some of them make tin cans and porringers and tin liaising’s and sell them to people in the country for small sums of money. I see it happening every day with my eyes.
