- About eighty-six years ago there was an old sod school in the townland of Greaghnafarna. It was situated on the border between Sligo and Leitrim and the remains of it may still be seen on the land of Owen Kelly.
The teacher who was lame and whose name was Master Quinn was a native of Sligo. When he used get his money he used stay away for weeks and drink it.
The school was attended by about twenty pupils. Each pupil had to pay half-a-crown in the year.
After school hours the farmers cattle used be tied in the school house. The school continued until Bloomfield National School was opened.- Bailitheoir
