- Thus it is told that Fionn and his chief comrades were hunting at Kesh, when they were caught in a magical trap by three witches. Across the door of their cave these witches spun yarns of thread like a spider's web Whoever touched the thread fell under a spel. Fionn and Oisin followed a bager into th cave and fell to the ground exhausted. The witches bound them and carried them away into the darkness. Other Fianna followed in sirch of Fionn and his son, and they in turn were caught by the spell. At last all of the company was catered, save only Goll mac Moran, who was far on the hill-side. The witches were preparing to slay their captives but they came forth to fight Goll with swords. Goll killed two but the third promised to take(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
