- When the sun sets gleary it is a sign of storm. If there is a rig round the moon or if it is smothered it is the sign of rain. When the stars are numerous in the sky there will be frost. When a crane is seen lying along a river it is the sign of storm. When a lot of midges are seen near the ground it is a sign of rain.
- There was a severe storm of wind in the month of January 1927. It lasted for about five hours. It knocked roofs of houses. Trees that were rooted and some of the roads were blocked.
