  1. Years ago wives sat on the horses with their husbands. There was a saddle known as the súgán made of straw for the purpose. It consisted of a saddle to the front on which the man sat, them to his back was a seat in the form of a chair on which the wife sat down. The last pair seen passing this way was over 40 years ago when a man and his wife were going to the Blessed Well in Dromard to perform a station on the 29th June.
